The Hillary and Obama big brother ads. Call it a personal prejudice, but I think Hillary fits the Big Brother image better. Something very machine-like about her. That being said, this ad does pose a very prickly question: Can a black man be Big Brother? Why would you always expect Big Brother to be white? Are the american people ready for a Black- I am sorry, of african American decent – Big Brother? Would he be called Black Big Brother, or Big Black Brother, or Triple B for short?
Ahh, the important questions the 2008 campaign stirrs up!
You guys need to stop thinking America will not elect a black man. The only reason Colin Powell isn’t president is because he opted to not run. Look at the polling numbers.
Don’t mask dislike of Obama as people not wanting to elect a Black man. He only has been a Senator, and this is his first term. He has no serious executive experience. He isn’t fifty, so he is too damn young. Come back in ten years, then we’ll see.
Triple B……you crack me up!
i, personally, prefer Black Big Brother, because Big Black Brother could mean any Black guy who’s over 5 feet tall and weighs more than 200 pounds.
we can still call him triple B…….or B cubed……or b to the third power……or B X 3….
damn, this is fun–Elect Obama!
Luigi_Aronson,
IIRC, exactly three sitting Senators/Congressmen have been elected president. And usually that’s after a fair amount of distinguished service. Obama is a neophyte. The only reason he’s even being considered is that he’s both sort of black and sort of white, which is hardly a qualification for anything.
We tend to prefer to elect governors and cabinet members as they are more adept at making decisions and running bureaucracies, which is pretty much what a president does.
Barak’s 15 minutes are up. He’s living in injury time now.
Triple B?
Bootie Bustin’ Bandit???
Luigi,
JFK was 36 when he became president (granted he had 13 years in the House and Senate) and he was the first catholic to be elected. Obama has been in Congress since 1996.. he’s not that far off. being catholic in the 1960’s was looked at as being a good thing. and his “big brother” add is far lass innocuous.
Obama’s add did get written up in the news, but oddly Hillary’s did not (as far as I’ve seen)
sorry, being catholic in the 60’s was NOT looked at as being a good thing.
sorry-
being catholic in the 60’s was NOT looked at as being a gool thing.
rochelle,
Obama has not been in Congress since 1996. He has been in the Senate since 2005. Prior to that, he has been in the Illinois State legislature. He has absolutely no executive experience at all, whatsoever. He’ll be ready to hold JFK’s jockstrap in 11 years. I’ll consider voting for him then.
