From Yesterday's clashes in Lebanon:
Police, in a final toll of the trouble, reported that three people
were killed and 173 injured. Of the 173, 48 suffered gunshot wounds and
the rest resulted from blows from sticks or stones.Tuesday's clashes quickly took on a dangerous sectarian tone in a
country whose divided communities fought a bloody 1975-1990 civil war.
Gunmen from neighboring districts in the northern city of Tripoli — one
largely Sunni Muslim, the other largely Alawites, a Shiite Muslim
offshoot — fought each other, causing two of the fatalities.

Robert Fisk had an article in the Independent today. He got in a smear on the non-Auon Christians by claiming they were allies of Israel and committed the Sabra and Chatilla massacres (which, OK, they did but let it go Bob!), but some how failed to blame Israel and America for the violence. So do you think Bobby has turned over a new leaf? I expect not. I’d put my money on him coming up with a conspiracy theory. I reckon we ought to give him a hand and explain how this is all the fault of the Jooos. Perhaps Bob ought to bear in mind that Abu Huraira was a converted Jew. Which proves, obviously, Sunni Islam is a vast Jewish conspiracy. Hence the resistance to Hezbollahs perfectly reasonable demands that they should run the country.

You are so wrong it is beyond belief. Very few people at all support what happened in those camps.
It was 200 people under the command of Elie Hobeika who went into those camps to clear out remaining fighters hiding among the civilians and took the opportunity to kill a good number of teh civilians themselves instead.
Elie Hobeika was a pro-Syrian double-agent who openly went over to the Syrian side in the war after Samir Geagea (the current leader of the LF) kicked him out of LF in 86. You will have an extremely hard time finding anyone in Lebanon, least of christians, and absolute least of all non-Aoun supporting christians who have anything even remotely good to say about that piece of human trash.
The current LF party today (which is still only a portion, albeit the biggest, of the many Christians who don’t support Aoun) has absolutely nothing to do with the people who went into those camps.
And by the way, what is thing with always bringing up Maronites? As if they were the only christians in Lebanon, or they were different from the other christians. They must really annoy you for your kind to always bring them up as the big bad boogeyman…

If Black Americans only had a culture of victimhood that would be plausible. But they don’t. They also have a culture of self-reliance which led James Brown to, for instance, endorse Nixon. Blacks are English speaking Christians (by and large). They do not eat exactly the same food, or listen to the same music or watch the same TV even, but the gap between Black and White America is vastly smaller than between Christian and Muslim French people or even Lebanese.

Hobeika was kicked out of the LF in 1986 by Samir Geagea in an internal uprising within the party, at which point Hobeika openly joined the Syrian side with the tiny fragment of the party that went with him and remained pro-Syrian until he was assassinated in the 90s. As far as him collaborating with them as far back as 82 there isn’t much hard evidence, but there was a book by one of his men (Robert Maroun Hatem aka ‘Cobra’) that came out in the 90s that made that claim.
Either way, even if he wasn’t yet at that time, it still doesn’t change the fact that he is a murderer and a traitor, and that it was him and a handful of his men that were responsible for this, not the LF itself or the current leader of the LF, Samir Geagea.

Lebanon is exactly the future that France will get. It has a lot in common – yet another Christian, even Catholic more or less, Mediterranean country with a large Arab Muslim population. The political situation in Lebanon is better because at least they know what a hole they are in. Tell me about how much better France’s relations with Algeria are compared to Lebanon’s with Syria. IN 1932 Christians were 55 percent of the Lebanese population. In 1983 the US government estimated that Maronites were 16 percent, Greek Orthodox another 5 percent, and 3 percent Greek Catholic. The Druze made up 7 percent, the Sunnis, 27 percent and the Shia 41 percent. More or less. And that was 20 years ago. But you can do just what the Lebanese Christians do – close your eyes and pretend that you are still in a majority, but it is pointless. Lebanon is your future.

Actually it has a lot to do with it. The Lebanese lost the ability to control their borders. And so the Muslims came in. French culture is dead. Embrace the fact. Undermine your image? Why would I have to bother? The French do that more than adequately themselves. I never claimed to represent anyone but myself and, as I may have pointed out before, abusing me won’t make you right.

Which is to say France is in transition from a Latin Catholic country to an Arab Muslim one. If you know this why are you complain about what I said?

They don’t want trouble, but they don’t want to assimilate either. As soon as they have the numbers to flex their muscles they will – and their youth are. Arab culture cannot accept quietly obeying the law. You are a man in the Islamic world only if you humiliate others and stand against the state. As soon as they can, they will.

It is true a lot of English people go their to die. France does not replace its own and it a land of the living dead. US protection kept the Germans out in 1918 – when the French Army could not. Saved France in 1944. And kept the Soviets on the right side of the German border after 1945. France could not have survived without the US – no children you see. France has been in decline for a long long time. You don’t like nannies but you do not have the will or the courage to do the task yourself. Much better to shelter behind the US while despising them for it. French governments clearly have no more testosterone than French men.

They are manifestly not becoming French and they are doing an excellent job of being unassimilable. I don’t even blame them. Why would they want to join a dead culture? It would be necrophilia. It is not in the Far East. It is on the other side of a short stretch of water from France. For most of the last 5000 years all the countries around the Mediterranean shared a common culture. Right up to the Islamic conquest. While they were held to the southern shore of the Med, they are not being held there much longer. Soon the entire Med will once again share a common culture. No matter how much you deny it.
